Colors are changing

The front door and shutters have just been painted with Flame from Valspar's Eddie Bauer Ridgeline Cabin collection.

Final Paint Colors

Here are the final, purchased paint colors laid out according to the floor plan.


I bought a lot of paint. 17 gallons for the walls, 2 five gallon buckets for the ceilings, and 1 five gallon bucket for the trim. They were very nice at Lowe's and gave me a new receipt so I could get the rebate ($5/gallon and $20/5 gallon). That is going to buy me some nice light fixtures for the kitchen (when I find them).

Closing

We finally closed on the house. The paperwork signing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Now I have to buy paint, lamps, fans, cabinet knobs and pulls and everything else I may need to make the house mine. I also have to pack and move.

Inspection

It passed the inspection with no major structural problems.
The ac isn't working great and needs to be checked. There is a small leak under the sink in the master bathroom that has damaged the vanity. I am going to see about getting the price lowered to account for these.

Third time is the charm, I hope

So I have made an offer and countered on another house.



The seller and I have agreed on a price and I have a signed contract. Now, I just have to wait for it to pass the inspection on Saturday. At least it has been raining all week so it will be easy to see if the roof leaks. More news to come on Saturday (hopefully good).

Not in writing

The banks finally came back with numbers after almost 2 months and now they won't or can't put the amount in writing. I have never heard of a bank not wanting to put things in writing for their own protection so it is back to looking.

Offer again

I found another house I like and made an offer. It is a short sale so now I have to wait to hear from the bank. They have 3 weeks.

Back to searching

The inspection was today and it didn't go so well. There was a crack running diagonally from the ceiling to the floor in one of the bedrooms. We went outside and saw where a repair had been done and failed. Since there was no sign of a nearby tree, we felt the crack was a sign of serious foundation problems. I decided I didn't want a house with a bad foundation so it is back to looking.

Offer Counteroffer Dance

The bank was asking 125,000. I sent in an offer of 90,000 on 3/2/09. The bank said they wouldn't go lower than 100,000, which I was willing to pay so I accepted the counter offer. So now it is time for the inspections and mortgage paperwork before the closing on 4/6/09.

The search

After looking at many poorly designed and decorated houses today, I found a great 3 bedroom 2 bath house in Countryside Estates in Ocala, FL.
